Iconic Sonoma winery Williams Selyem is best known for Pinot Noir, but Zinfandel was the first wine that founders Burt Williams and Ed Selyem made. With the release of their 2023 vintage earlier this year, Williams Selyem winemaker Jeff Mangahas suggested a vertical tasting of Saitone from the past decade. Saitone is the oldest Zin planting in the Piner-Olivet area—a place coveted for its collection of gnarled old vines. It was originally planted in 1895 by Antonio Saitone.
